Introducing DQUARTZ GO: A Game-Changer for the Detailing Industry
Hey, guys! DQUARTZ Go is now available to the public, and today I'm going to be explaining all about this new technology. And what a huge leap it is for the detailing industry, and especially for you.
In this overview, we'll delve into key aspects of
DQUARTZ Go. We'll start by explaining what DQUARTZ Go is, highlighting its
groundbreaking use of nanodiamonds. We'll also explore the innovative Quartz
Fusion Technology behind it. Discover why we're enthusiastic about this product
and compare it to CQUARTZ UK and DQUARTZ Professional. Additionally, we'll
address essential questions regarding the need for a topcoat, curing time, and
expected durability. Finally, we'll provide valuable application tips and maintenance
guidelines to ensure successful usage and long-lasting results.
In short, DQUARTZ Go is protection for your paint that lasts for years and performs incredibly well relative to any other options that are out there on the market.
Nano Diamond Quartz Fusion: A Legitimate Breakthrough
It utilizes an entirely new technology called nano diamond quartz fusion. And as crazy as that sounds, it's actually legitimate.
I rolled my eyes the first time I saw it as well. But after research and learning all about it, it literally is actually what they do is they make synthetic diamonds by crushing carbon and they create these synthetic nanodiamonds, which they are is utilized within that solution. And so when you're applying it to the surface of the paint, that in conjunction with the courts and all the other ingredients that are in the coating, help to make the paint a little bit harder, it actually raises the paint hardness by up to five points on the pencil hardness scale.
Unmatched Dirt Resistance and Ease of Cleaning
And then it also obviously helps resist dirt, make the car ways to clean and do all of the things that all of the courts and car pro ceramic coatings are famous for.
The Durability Factor
As coatings go, DQUARTZ Go is quite simple to apply. I would say even maybe a little simpler than CQUARTZ UK 3.0. So right between the two and ease of application. As far as durability goes, obviously this is a brand new product, so I can't tell you this is going to last five years. I can't tell you exactly how long it's going to last. All I can tell you is that based on what we've seen over the past year with the technology that's in this product, with the Quartz technology, is that we're astounded. So far, we haven't seen any failure or any dip in performance of the coating on any car. So I expect it to last a very long time.
Chemical Resistance and Slickness
We've definitely seen it hold up better to chemicals and salt and stuff like that, even better than CQUARTZ UK, as hard as that is to believe. So hopefully that gives you a little bit of insight. Quick summary into the differences between the three. As far as slickness goes, this is a little more slick than UK, but not quite as slick as CQUARTZ SiC.
Understanding Cure Times
Cure times with ceramic coatings, it's important that the coating has time to cure before it's exposed to the elements.
So what are those cure times with? Because, well, a lot like CQUARTZ UK and SiC, or any really high-quality ceramic coating. It depends on what it's being exposed to.
You mean how long can I get it with dirty water? So, you know, how long can I let the car go out the door and drive through the streets? And so then we have to ask, is it raining? You know, how muddy is it? Is it salty? Is it is it the middle of winter? And are you in a state where there's salt on the streets?
One question that I know is going to pop up is can we use Release with this product? If we have to release it the next morning? Yeah, absolutely. You can use Release with it and that'll help give you a little bit of a sacrificial barrier to help protect against those things.
Using a Curing Lamp
Yes, you can. It's not necessary, but you can use an IR curing lamp on DQUARTZ Go.
The Million-Dollar Question: How Long Will It Last?
So obviously the huge question out there that we always get with ceramic code is how long is this going to last?
And we've gotten more and more away from it's going to last this many years or that many years, because the truth of the matter is that all depends on how you maintain the vehicle. And that is true with any coating. That's true the way a can of wax, right? If you put wax on your car and you drive it around and the chemicals and it's just a typical kind of wax, it might last a week if you have salt, salty roads going to be dead after one drive.
So there's a huge variety of things and whole lot of variables that are going to affect how long this last. That's not a cop-out. That's just the truth with CQUARTZ UK, CARPRO has always said it's a two-year coating.
What they are giving you is the realistic expectations in typical conditions on a daily driver car. Right. So we see people all the time that last three or four years, no problem. And if it sits in the garage, obviously longer than that. So with the course we expect something similar to that. With all that said, we expect DQUARTZ Go will outlast UK 3.0.
DQUARTZ Go vs DQUARTZ Professional
So what's the difference between DQUARTZ Go and DQUARTZ Professional? Well, DQUARTZ Go is based on the technology that's been utilized for DQUARTZ Professional, but in a user-friendly do-it-yourself package that we can sell to the open market. Basically, if you make a mistake with DQUARTZ Go, it's going to be easier for you to fix than if you were to be utilizing DQUARTZ Professional.
Understanding Application and Prepping the Surface
Ensuring Proper Bonding
One of the things that I love about this product is that as long as the surface is prepped correctly, you're not going to have any problem getting the coating to bond. So there's a lot of kind of hocus-pocus out there about, oh, you need to be really careful when you're applying it. And if you don't, it's not going to bond. But, you know, the truth of the matter is that as long as you are prepping the surface correctly, you're not going to have a problem getting the coating to bond.
Step-by-Step Application Guide
- Wash, decontaminate, mechanically polish, and panel wipe the paint.
- Wrap 4" microfiber suede around the grey side of applicator block or simply use our MF applicator.
- Shake bottle.
- Point away from your face and slowly open bottle. Then drag one or two lines of product along length of applicator.
- Wipe evenly across 2 Sq Ft +/- section in criss cross or overlapping motion using light and even pressure.
- Wait 5 ~ 15 minutes (depending on temperatures and flash time) before wiping.
- Once it feels slightly tacky, gently wipe off with a CARPRO 2Face Microfiber Towel.
- Be sure to remove all excess residue and only then move to the next section.
- NOTE: Always test ONE section first and make sure you understand application before proceeding.
- Flip or switch out to new 4" suede every 1 ~ 2 panels or if residue or dirt becomes visible.
- 1 layer of DQ GO is enough, but if you wish to apply an extra layer, you may do so after 1 hour from the time you began the first layer.
- Repeat application process starting in the same panel and moving the same direction around the vehicle.
- Keep out of the elements for 48 hours for best performance and durability.
Proper Application Temperature
You want to be applying this coating in the 60s or warmer. If it's colder than that, the performance might not be as good. And if it's way colder than that, you know, it's going to make it really difficult to apply the coating.
How Many Coats Do You Need?
So how many coats do you need? The truth of the matter is, you can put as many coats as you want on. We recommend one to two coats. One coat, it'll last. Like I said, we don't know exactly how long, but it'll last a while. Two coats, it's definitely going to give you a lot more thickness and it's going to protect a lot longer. But honestly, I don't know that you need to go more than that.
Curing Time and Safe Handling
So we talked about the cure time a little bit and you can either wait a few hours before getting the surface wet. But you do want to wait 24-48 hours before washing it. It will be at its full hardenss at 7 days after its application if you do not IR cure the coating. The important thing to remember here is the coating will be stronger the longer it is let to sit to cure. The longer the better. After 48 hours though, you are good to get it wet, just make sure those water spots don't dry on the surface.
Proper Storage and Shelf Life
In terms of storage, you want to keep it in a cool, dry place. You don't want to let it freeze. As with all CQUARTZ coatings, it is a 1~2 year shelf life. So when you get the product, it's going to have a manufacturer's date on it. You want to use it within 12 months of that manufacturer's date. It may be good for longer than that based on its storage. But for sure, if you use it within 12 months of manufacturing date, you're going to have great performance.
Coverage
As of right now, DQUARTZ Go is only sold in a 50ml bottle. This is enough to do 2 coats on a larger SUV or truck and 2 separate smaller vehicles.
Additional Tips:
- Finding the right time to "level" (wipe off) excess coating after it flashes:
- Start with a single 2ft x 2ft test section to determine flash time before applying coating to entire vehicle. Flash time will vary depending on temperature, humidity, air movement, paint type, how thick it is applied, and more.
- If coating is applied thick then the coating will take longer to flash. If applied thin it will flash faster. Hot temps will cause it to flash faster, cold temps will cause it to flash slower. Air movement will cause it to flash faster.
- When it flashes you will see it begin to change in wetness, appearance, or else bead up.
- All streaks should wipe off and the paint should be nice and clear.
- Lighting - Lighting is key to make sure you wipe off completely without leaving high spots. You don't want "direct light" like you would use on paint correction, but rather ambient light. Look at the paint from different angles to make sure none of the coating is missed. Spot light will "wash out" the high spots visually. Think of it like this: when you wipe off a sealant you have hours to go and check it again outside or in other lighting. In this case you need to pay attention as you go rather than wait an hour. Thorough removal of residue and streaks is necessary to avoid the need to polish off high spots later. ScanGrip Sunmatch 3 or ScanGrip MiniMatch with the diffuser cap is a perfect tool to check your coating work.
- Wait between 2 ~ 15 minutes depending on temperature, humidity, and air movement, and find the right window to wipe when you’re doing your test panel. Generally in medium temperatures 7 ~ 10 minutes is the right window.
- High spots - A high spot is excess coating that was not leveled (wiped off). Most of the time it will look like a darker or rainbow colored mark. If you discover them within minutes then a bit more product will easily lift them. If found days later then you would use a dot of finishing polish such as CARPRO Reflect and rub the high spot off, wipe it down with CARPRO Eraser or your IPA of choice, and then re-coat that area and onto the area around it by about 6". Then start wiping off the perimeter immediately and slowly work inwards to feather it until you reach the area you are trying to re-coat at the appropriate time. This is the method used to avoid polishing the entire panel and re-coating.
