Dr. Beasley’s Timber Coat Kit
A Complete Care Kit for Open Pore Wood
Open pore wood veneer trim is more common than ever on vehicle interiors, with major vehicle manufacturers like Rivian, Tesla and BMW now featuring the material on select models. This unique trim adds a rustic yet refined atmosphere to the interior, bringing the wonders of the natural world inside your mobile sanctuary. Yet the very quality that make open pore wood so appealing — a porous, unvarnished grain texture — is also what makes it so difficult to maintain.
Inspired by the open pore wood trim in his own Rivian R1S, Dr. Beasley’s Founder & Chemist Jim Lafeber developed products for cleaning and protecting this unique surface creating Timber Cleanser and Timber Coat!
- Timber Cleanser lifts out, breaks down and removes embedded grime and contamination inside the pores without fading the color or altering the texture.
- Timber Coat bonds an invisible, imperceptible barrier with the wood surface, creating a shield against stains, grime and everyday wear-and-tear.
Unlike smooth interior surfaces like plastic, vinyl and leather, open pore wood trim is textured and, well, porous. On top of that, it has a totally unprotected finish — so that porous, ridged texture practically sucks up grime and liquids. Most cleaners and protectants aren’t equipped for this. Here’s why:
- Conventional cleaners struggle to pull out grime embedded in the pores.
- Some cleaners can fade the wood’s color.
- Aggressive cleaners that are too harsh can wear at the unvarnished texture.
- Oil-based conditioners designed to protect finished wood add a sticky residue that attracts contamination and leaves a greasy sheen.
Dr. Beasley's Timber Coat Kit is an engineered solution for the open pore wood substrate and will not alter the appearance or texture in any way.
